Relational Values

  • God opposes the proud, and gives grace to the humble. Therefore, we look to intentionally humble ourselves through practices of turning from sin to righteousness (repentance) and serving others without the need for recognition.

  • In a world of lies, we commit to tell (and hear) the truth in love (Ephesians 4:15, 25).

  • God is hospitable towards us. He causes the rain to fall on the just and the unjust. We, therefore, are hospitable to others, looking to see how we can steward what we’ve been entrusted with, welcoming others into our homes, and giving generously of our time, talents and treasures in obedience to the Spirit and in line with God’s heart.

  • We honor others as made in the image of God. We honor the city of Detroit by speaking well of it and seeking its welfare (Jeremiah 29:4-7)

  • We serve a God who knows the end from the beginning, and will surely restore all things. Our hope is fixed in the resurrection of Jesus, who will return to judge the living and the dead. So we can have joy in the present, as our birthright into an everlasting kingdom.
